Eucalyptus is not indigenous to South Africa. Found in the Western Cape and Gauteng regions of South Africa, the leaves are known to contain flavonoids and tannins that provide both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The Eucalyptus tree is native to Australia, commonly known as Blue Gum.
Eucalyptus tea is commonly used as an inhalant to relieve symptoms of
the common cold or flu. Inhaling the vapour assists with congested airways. Eucalyptus leaves are rich in Limonene which is antiviral.
Use one teaspoon of loose tea per cup. Add freshly boiled water, allow to brew for 3 minutes. If inhaling, breathe in Eucalyptus vapours while tea is steeping.
